Giancarlo Esposito, known for his role as Gus Fring in Breaking Bad, has officially announced that he is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Let’s take a look at his statements and which film and character he might be portraying.
His Role Is Still Unknown
Giancarlo Esposito is definitely joining the Marvel Universe, but his role is still unknown. Esposito, who has appeared in productions such as Parish, The Boys, and Revolution, played the villainous Moff Gideon for three seasons in The Mandalorian. Since then, Esposito’s desire to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been known. There were particularly rumors about a potential role as Professor X in the reboot of X-Men. Now, Esposito has finally confirmed that he is joining the MCU, but his role remains a secret.
Esposito’s Hints
Esposito hinted that he will not be following in the footsteps of Patrick Stewart or James McAvoy, and implied that he will not be taking on the role of Professor X. He also suggested that he will be playing a character that has not been portrayed in Marvel movies or shows before.
‘I can’t tell you that I will be Professor X. I can tell you that I will be an original character. We’ve seen different versions of Professor X. Would you like to see me as an original, new, and fresh character in a Marvel film? If so, remember my words: this will happen sooner than you think.’
If Esposito is referring to a Marvel film currently in production or post-production, we have only a handful of films such as Thunderbolts, Captain America: Brave New World, and The Fantastic Four. Additionally, there is a possibility of Esposito appearing in the Daredevil: Born Again series.
